One big reason that Mamdani was elected was that he promised a rent freeze. The average ignorant New Yorker blames rising rents on landlords being greedy without realizing that the government is being greedy by raising taxes on landlords who have to raise their rents to pay their taxes. In addition inflation due to reckless government spending during the Biden presidency increases the costs for landlords who then have to pass those costs on to tenants. One reason for high rents is the high demand for an inadequate supply of housing but that housing shortage is created by government price controls that prevent builders from building more homes. If the government didn't interfere high demand for homes would lead to builders building more homes. Rent freezes in a market with a low supply of houses results in wealthy people who would have been able to afford a home in NYC, not able to get one because there aren't enough available. It results of a redistribution of homes in NYC from the wealthy to the middle class and poor. Rent freezes don't increase the supply of homes they just change who lives in those homes. In fact they make less money available to landlords to maintain homes and builder to build new homes which results in fewer available homes.

Mysonne Linen, 49, a Bronx convict-turned-activist who was found guilty of two felony heists in the late 1990s, was appointed by the democratic socialist to sit on his mayoral transition’s “criminal legal system” committee — just one of many questionable picks.

Her biggest claim to fame dates back to her days as California’s labor secretary — when she oversaw up to $40 billion in unemployment checks sent to fraudsters.

Roughly 80 of the 400 people named to staff Mamdani’s 17 transition committees “have a documented history of making or sharing anti-Zionist or anti-Israel statements,” the report found. A handful were also found to have ties to the Nation of Islam or its antisemitic leader Louis Farrakhan, including Jacques Léandre, a member of the transition’s Committee on Legal Affairs, the ADL said.

Together with the 2019 rent reforms that resulted in a number of landlords finding it more financially viable to leave rent-stabilized units vacant rather than rent them, it has put supply at an all-time low, and rents at an all-time high.

Mamdani picked Cea Weaver to run his Office to Protect Tenants: She’s a proud radical who has called for the city to force private landlords out of business so it can seize their buildings; that’s partly why she praises his rent-freeze plans as likely to “deepen the crises” in the housing marketplace.

She’s spent years advocating unabashed Marxism: “Elect more Communists,” ran a tweet from December 2017; “Seize private property,” another in June 2018. Just before the New Year, Mamdani chose Kamar Samuels as schools chancellor. On top of wanting to end Gifted & Talented programs, Samuels is so obsessed with racial re-engineering of the school system that he’s won praise from far-left “1619 Project” chief Nikole Hannah-Jones.

If actions speak louder than words, then Mayor Zohran Mamdani gave New Yorkers an earful by smirkingly revoking nine of his predecessor’s executive orders, a third of them touching on antisemitism. That’s a funny way to describe a condemnation of Jew-hatred: One order tossed in the dustbin was a “working definition” of antisemitism that condemns “hatred toward Jews” directed against Jews, non-Jews and “Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” Lefties don’t like this definition — formulated by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance — because they say it can be interpreted as including anti-Zionist agitation as antisemitic, though it doesn’t even say Israel. Most ominously, Mamdani revoked an order instructing the NYPD to “evaluate” conditions for protests outside houses of worship. Mayor Eric Adams issued this order following an ugly demonstration outside a Manhattan synagogue in November, when screaming protesters were permitted to directly confront worshippers, contrary to established police practice.

Kathy wants Mamdani supporters many of whom are Muslim to vote for her in the next election so in January 2026 during Muslim heritage month she ordered New York landmarks lit with Islamic green lights. Shockingly she ordered the new World Trade Center lit green when it was Muslims who destroyed the old World Trade Center towers including the thousands of New Yorkers who worked in those towers.
