2.21 Is Islam a Religion of Peace?

My son was read a novel in school about a Syrian refugee girl who came to the United States.  In the book it says that the violence she experienced from other Muslims had nothing to do with Islam and that it doesn't come from the Koran and that the Koran is a peaceful book.  In the video below a former Muslim discusses the question of whether Islam is a religion of peace.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali says that the social media should spread the message of Muslim reformers.  Instead social media censors many people who speak the truth about Islam.  This happens a lot, I'll give two examples.

Destiny Velez, Miss Puerto Rico 2015, wrote on Facebook that "All what Muslims have done is provided oil & terrorize this country & many others!!!!"  She wrote in her Twitter account that "There's NO comparison between Jews, Christians & Muslims. Jews nor Christians have terrorizing agendas in their sacred books."  Her Facebook and Twitter accounts were deactivated and the Miss America organization issued a statement announcing Velez's indefinite suspension from her role as Miss Puerto Rico.

Tommy Robinson was the leader of the English Defence League.  He spoke out against Muslim gangs that assault girls in England and that assaulted his sister.  He was banned from Facebook and Instagram.  In fact he was thrown in prison.

Many people in the West are cowards and silence or punish those who do to avoid the Muslims getting angry.  The longer the West appeases Islam and pretends it is a religion of peace and silences its critics the scarier Islam will become and the less likely steps will be taken to stop Muslims from committing terrorist attacks.

If Islam is a religion of peace than it's holy books would be peaceful.  Here are some of the violent verses in the Quran the holiest book of Islam.

Quran (2:191-193)
“And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing… but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun(the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)”

Quran (2:244)
“Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”

Quran (2:216)
“Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.”

Quran (4:74)
“So let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory – We will bestow upon him a great reward.”
