9.65 Does America Benefit from Supporting Israel?

There have always been prominent voices who have opposed American support for Israel. In fact there is a BDS movement that wants to stop everyone from buying Israeli goods.

American support for Israel has its benefits. Israeli military technology benefits America. For example, the Iron Dome, invented by Israel but produced in America, now not only is used by the Jewish state, but has also become part of the U.S. Army’s defense system. Arming Israelis with American weapons to fight terrorism spares American servicemen and women from doing it. Former Secretary of State and U.S. Army General Alexander Haig’s observation 35 years ago still resonates today: “Israel is the largest American aircraft carrier in the world that cannot be sunk, does not carry even one American soldier, and is located in a critical region for American national security.”

Additionally, Israel and the United States engage in longstanding intelligence cooperation, sharing information on common security threats and coordinating efforts in areas such as counterterrorism.

There are even people in the West against Israeli's strikes against Iran's nuclear bomb factories. The Iranian leadership calls America the great Satan. There are videos of enormous mobs of Iranians chanting "Death to America".

The leader of Iran as of June 2025, Khamenei is a “twelver.” This branch of Shi’a Islam believes that the twelfth descendant of Mohammad, called the Mahdi, will be revealed to earth following an apocalyptic war and place the entire world under submission to Islam. Twelvers want apocalyptic war. They want the world ruled by Islam. The last thing the world needs is for twelvers to have nuclear weapons. Yet even after Israel took out most of Iran's nuclear making facilities there are Americans who condemn Israel such as Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman AOC and others.

There are demonstrations in the West against bombing Iran.
