9.85 Does Israel Want Peace?
Dr. Einat Wilf spoke at the Oxford Union debate in June 2026, arguing against the motion: "This House Believes that Israel Never Truly Wanted Peace with Palestine." [1, 2] Given the desire of the Arab world to annihilate Israel since 1948 and to annihilate its Jewish inhabitants long before then the proposition being argues should have been "This house believes that the Arabs never wanted peace with Israel." In the video below Einat lists the desperate efforts of Israel to make peace with the Muslim world that wanted it gone. Israel paid a terrible price for its concessions in blood. Israel would have been much better off keeping land it seized when attacked. That might have gotten the message across to the Arab world that if you don't leave Israel alone you'll lose territory that you currently occupy.
