10.39 Antisemitism at American Universities.
On October 8, 2023, one day after Hamas' attack on Israel, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators rallied in Times Square, waving Palestinian flags, chanting "Resistance is justified", "Globalize the Intifada", "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free", "By any means necessary", "Glory to our martyrs", and "Smash the settler Zionist state". pro-Palestinian protesters chanting "700", referring to the confirmed number of Israeli fatalities in the attack at that moment. One would think that after such a gruesome attack on Israeli civilians there would be no anti-Israel demonstrations. One would expect that anti-Israel Muslims would be ashamed, apologetic and even afraid of public wrath. Instead there were many demonstrations like these, including many on American University campuses.
Republicans in Congress held a news briefing in which Jewish students testified about what it is like to be a student at their universities.
Senior Eyal Yakobi talks about antisemitism at Penn in the video below. Penn used to be one of the most desirable places to go to if you were Jewish because it was so welcoming to Jews and because of its large Jewish community.
Bella Ingber an undergraduate at NYU talks about antisemitism at NYU in the video below. NYU used to be a place that accepted Jews when other universities wouldn't let them in. NYU had an anti-Israel demonstration. When police arrested demonstrators they marched on police headquarters.
Jonathan Frieden from Harvard Law School speaks below about antisemitism at Harvard below.
One of the things that Jonathan Frieden was told was "We have you outnumbered". That means we the Hamas supporters have you the Jews outnumbered. This is the result of the United States and American universities allowing in Muslim antisemites into the United States and Muslim propaganda that convinces gullible Americans that innocent Muslims are being oppressed by evil Jews. The more Muslim there are the more they can spread their propaganda person to person and that's in addition to propaganda countries like Iran and China spread on social media. The more Muslims there are in a demonstration the less they are afraid to engage in anti-semitic and violent behavior.
Talia Khan, an undergraduate alum and current graduate student at MIT (2023) speaks below about antisemitism there.
Most students, when they are harassed in school can go to their teachers and ask for help. What's especially frightening for the students who have spoken in the above videos is the faculty and administration that should have helped them didn't. The fact that faculty are participating in the demonstrations that harass Jews for a terrorist organization that killed Jews shows that they are anti-semitic, the fact that faculty that do this were hired to begin with indicates the administration of their departments is anti-semitic.
Joseph Frager spoke to an alumnus of MIT who was there in the 1970s. In an article titled MIT Hotbed of Hate Joseph wrote:
In speaking to an alumnus of MIT who walked the
hallowed halls at MIT at the same time as Prime Minister Netanyahu, I learned
that the MIT of today does not resemble the MIT of yesteryear. For starters, MIT
in the 1970’s was purely a merit-based institution that took the best and the
brightest. This is no longer the case. In the past 20 years MIT in some areas
seems to be promoting a more socialist worldview rather than focusing on what it
had always done best which was to teach the sciences, engineering, and related
fields at the very highest level of scholarship and critical thinking.
My friend, the alumnus, tells me that in his class 33% were Jewish. About a
third of those were observant. The Kosher Kitchen required two different
seatings nightly for dinner. He knew every one of his 1063 classmates. He was
the class secretary for 18 years.
In the past 10-20 years the number of Jews being accepted to MIT has dwindled to
6%-7%. Jews started to get harassed on campus even before the slaughter and
atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. However, after October 7th
the viciousness of the blatant anti-semitism reached a new level. Jewish
students were now afraid to go to class and walk on campus for fear of physical
harm and confrontations with pro-Hamas protesters...
Other acts of anti-semitism at MIT have been recorded including the defacement of a Holocaust Memorial on Holocaust Remembrance Day and the blockade of a Day Care Center on campus where a number of Jews had left children. The protesters actually tried to break in but the locked doors kept them out.
The fact that MIT is accepting far fewer Jews than previously but accepts many antisemitic Muslims is another indication that the MIT administration is antisemitic.
By clicking here you can see a list of the 30 safest schools for Jews according to the Forward newspaper. They list Baruch college as a safe school but I remember Jewish students having to barricade themselves in a library at Baruch because of hostile people and I just read an article about how protestors gathered near Jews at a welcome back dinner organized by Hillel and shouted at them that they were terrorists and taunted them about the murder of six hostages by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. This list ranking antisemitic schools, that was compiled by Brandeis University is probably better. The University of Florida is a relatively safe university for Jews partly because the governor of Florida, DeSantis will not tolerate antisemitism on their campuses. Jewish students can also go to Universities in Israel however Israel is under attack currently (January 2025)
